Maternal Child and Family Health (MACH) Nursing Service

MACH offers child health clinics to support parents with information and health advice on baby and child health and development, breastfeeding, nutrition and feeding, sleep issues, parenting, child safety, behavioural issues and perinatal mental health.

Appointments can be booked at a range of locations around Canberra through the Community Health Intake between 8.30am and 5pm on 02 6207 9977.

MACH Nursing Services are free and available to all Medicare and Asylum Seeker card holders.


Breastfeeding Support Clinic

MACH offers a range of options for breastfeeding support for parents of infants up to 6 months of age who are experiencing difficulties with feeding their baby.

These include:
• face to face booked appointments
• an Early Parenting Support phone line.

There are Breastfeeding clinics held every day of the week at various locations across Canberra.

For an appointment call the Early Parenting Support phone line on (02) 5124 1775 anytime and leave a voicemail message with your name, your best contact number and reason for your call. A MACH nurse/midwife will call you back between 8:30am and 5pm Monday to Friday.


MACH Follow-up Clinics

Follow-up clinics are available for short consultations.

You can book an appointment to see a MACH nurse/midwife for information and advice on:
• Parenting
• Child health
• Breastfeeding
• Nutrition and feeding issues
• Keeping your child safe
• Toddler behaviour issues
• Adjustment to parenthood, and
• Maternal emotional health
